Ayomide Inufin D’great – Kogi, I Come to You!
With open arms and heart,
a mother welcomes her child,
she flatters the ground,
splash honours at her aisles,
belaud her clouds, whirls her wind,
whisk her wide water,
spirit of a happy mother,
with love she overwhelms
her sons and daughters,
only a bastard hears
father’s eulogies and turn deaf,
the fragrance in this blood
has drawn me here,
Kogi! I come to you,
with an open heart and mouth,
to receive every blessing,
you have kept in your mouth,
to take pride of your humble abode;
exalt you like God,
give unto you everything,
the omega of my love.
Grant me the fertility of this land!
Works of wonder that sanctifies the hands,
the grace that mercy favours,
abundance that causes chaos.
Listen to me!
A mother does not hear her
child’s cry and stay at peace,
crown my clarion call and make me bliss,
give a melody to these songs of lamentation,
longings of longsuffering; I speak! My tongue
is a voice of a lost generation.
Naked as nature I come,
to exhale my grief and absorb
the royalties in the belly of your kingdom.
