During her brief press tour, Ashanti has been asked some delicate questions regarding her history with Irv Gotti and her choice not to take part in the recent Murder Inc. documentary.

Ashanti claims in an interview with Ebro Darden that Irv’s bad behavior made her not want to be affiliated with the documentary.

“I believe that once someone pursues you, assaults you, and repeatedly attempts to harm you, you must eventually take measures to protect yourself. Because everything was so awfully unpleasant, I just felt like I didn’t want to put myself in that environment, Ashanti explains.

She also disclosed that Irv’s actions was caused by his resentment against her and their relationship, which ended when she asked for the chance to buy her master and he turned it down.

“You know what I’m saying, I think it’s a combination of him being resentful about the business and how things went in his head. You would hope that a grown man eventually sort of realizes what it is and moves on, she explains, promoting her remix of the song by Diddy and Bryson Tiller.

The bad thing is that I feel like Murder Inc. deserved a beautiful tale and a wonderful platform for everyone to be a part of, Ashanti continued. “I just feel like he’s not in or he wasn’t in a good place,” she said.

Irv has been upset with Ashanti since she revealed her intention to re-record the albums he produced. Irv Gotti was amenable to getting an apology, but Ashanti said she wasn’t interested in anything more with him when asked about it during her interview.

Irv Gotti asserted that he had a sexual relationship with Ashanti in an interview with Drink Champs conducted earlier this year. He even claimed that the song “Happy” was written after their cohabitation.

Ashanti also discussed how Irv Gotti verbally abused her and even attempted to claim credit for her sexuality in a different interview with Angie Martinez.

You are not shit. The world wanted to f**k you because I created you. He would use those same phrases to indicate that “n**gas want to f**k you because I made you look like that, I made you f**able,” Ashanti added.

“I firmly believe that manipulation was a major factor in the events that led to my relationship with Irv. He would say things like, “Nobody actually f**ks with you like that; no one wants to record with you… He would make it seem like “family” on the one hand, and then make it seem like “nobody likes you” on the other. It was challenging since “that naive little Suzy,” to whom she was referring, implied that she had bought into what Irv had stated.

Later, Ashanti also discussed the alleged relationship with Irv Gotti

“I believe there are occasions when you may believe something to be true, but the other person already knows it isn’t, and you manifest this thing into something significant when it is actually not that, and eventually that person comes to recognize it is not that. They become a completely different person as a result, she said to Martinez.

Irv has outright lied about a lot of things, and what’s odd is that it happened when we were in a happy and upbeat environment. The artist said, “Pillow talk is a risky thing and there are many things I know and for a long and maybe forever, I don’t have the desire to reveal some things, I’m pleased, I’m in a different area.

Irv was accused by Ashanti in her interview of “cheapening” the Murder Inc. brand through his outbursts and disrespect for her.

Regarding Irv’s assertion that she did not stand by him during the Murder Inc. trial, she remarked, “It’s odd when you are lying and you know you are lying, it becomes a little psychotic.”
