IN SOUTH AFRICA: Makhadzi responds after being mocked over her looks

Mzansi singer, Makhadzi has hit back at trolls who continue to mock her looks. The multi-award-winning singer who is at the peak of her career, constantly gets called ugly, but she has had enough of the bullying she’s subjected to on social media.

Reality TV star Inno Morolong recently dragged Makhadzi’s looks. This follows after she called out the Ma Gear hitmaker for failing to pitch up for a gig at Dundee July she was paid for.

“You are an adult, as an adult, you are supposed to have a house. She was saying she has talent and she is doing so much batter. Babes I don’t know you. I don’t follow you and I don’t care about you. Before you start talking to me, look at yourself, take a mirror, look at yourself and say I am fighting with Inno?,” said Morolong.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, the Ghanama hitmaker said she is beautiful and people should stop telling her that she’s ugly. “Another thing I want to say is that people should stop telling me that I am ugly, because I am very beautiful.”

Makhadzi who recently dragged the 2022 South African Music Awards, organizers for sabotaging her performance after it was cut short and had technical problems, said the incident will not bring her down.

The singer is known for pulling out all the stops when it comes to her performances, but her SAMA28 performance was messy. “The fact that my performance was one minute at the Samas doesn’t mean that I am bad or anything like that. My fans know that I am number one and nobody can ever change that,” she told the publication.

Shortly after the performance, the singer went on a Twitter rant and called out the SAMAs for not giving her enough time to rehearse for her performance.

Makhadzi said she rehearsed with a cellphone “I rehearsed with a cellphone on the stage to get my choreography. I asked to rehearse with the camera guys so they can read my moves no one listened to me. I asked for smokes and fireworks they promised but never delivered. But I remained a queen.”

She then dumped the SAMAs and said she wants to focus on her music now. “The award I got was my blessing from my ancestors I am sure the person who changed the name will be fired tomorrow. I don’t want summer (SAMA) awards anymore. I want to do my music for YouTube, so my fans can buy data and support me without favor.

Zakes Bantwini who won the Samro Highest Radio Airplay Composers Award and the Best Collaboration for Osama featuring Kasango, joined a number of artists who called out the SAMAs for missing the mark again this year. In a lengthy post, Zakes pointed out that the awards have devalued the honor and prestige they stood for.

“For over two decades The SAMAS have been the highest accolade that could be bestowed on South African artists, and have represented a standard of creative excellence, that marked the height of success to those in the creative sector.

“Regrettably the SAMAS have broken our trust, they have devalued the honour and prestige, which the awards once stood for, there is no integrity in the way at which the show is being produced, the planning, the awarding of artists & in extending the basic courtesy of RESPECT TO THE ARTIST!!!” he exclaimed.
