Adrienne Watkins the fiancée of late radio and TV presenter Mark Pilgrim has broken her silence following his passing earlier this week. After putting on a brave fight, the veteran star lost his battle with stage four lung cancer on Sunday, 5 March.
The beloved media personality proposed to Adrienne on New Year’s Day 2023 after dating for nearly two years. At the time of his death, the couple were planning their wedding ceremony. On Facebook, Adrienne Watkins – a senior partner at a consulting firm based in Johannesburg – shared her first post since his passing. In the post, the brunette shared the details of Mark’s memorial service, which takes place on Friday, 10 March.
She added: “In celebration of South Africa’s legend and inspiration; the best dad ever; my Mark, my Soulmate, my Hero”.
Meanwhile, Hot 102.7 FM – the station Mark last worked at – shared details for his memorial service, which takes place in Johannesburg on Friday, 10 March.
The post read: “Join us in paying tribute to our beloved Mark Pilgrim. No other details of the memorial or mention of a funeral service were made. The station did share a famous quote by Mark; “Don’t stop believing.”
Friends and family of Mark, including his two daughters Tayla-Jean and Alyissa with ex-wife Nicole Torres as well as fiancee Adrienne Watkins, are expected to make an appearance.
Mark retired from his battle with stage four cancer on Sunday, 5 March, more than a year after his diagnosis.

Actor Kini Shandu bags a new acting gig
Former SABC1 Daily Thetha and Gagasi FM presenter Kini Shandu has found a new home.
Kini, who has been getting short roles on SABC1 soapie Uzalo, is now part of the Mzansi Magic drama series Umkhokha.
On the drama series, he is part of Amajudiya church’s executive committee and he’s set to appear for the whole season.
Umkhokha season two premiered on Monday, 6 March.
Kini told the publication that he has learnt a lot about acting since he started shooting Umkhokha in December.
“I’m over the moon to get a chance to appear on Umkhokha for a long time. Getting this role has taught me many things, and I want to grow more in acting,” he said.
He said his love of acting has developed to the level where he wants to go as far as producing TV dramas and movies.
“I won’t reveal more about my character, but people must be glued to their TVs to see what will happen going forward,” he said.
Kini, who is the founder of Sebenza Women awards, said he has not given up on radio and TV presenting.
“When I get something on radio or TV, that will accommodate me while I’m shooting Umkhokha and doing my business,” he said.
