Famous singer Asa filed a lawsuit against Joeboy for plagiarizing her song.
40-year-old Asa, a Nigerian-French singer and composer, has filed a lawsuit against Joeboy for unauthorized use of her songwriting on his new single.
Asa charged Joeboy with utilizing her musical composition without her consent in a copyright infringement letter she had written and sent with her attorneys on September 30.
The Asa composition Joeboy was accused of stealing was allegedly used on his new song, “Contour,” according to the specifics of the lawsuit.
Asa asserts in the lawsuit that she came up with the song on September 22, 2020, while working with Tempoe, the album’s producer.
The composition, however, allegedly appeared on Joeboy’s “Contour” without Asa’s knowledge or consent, according to the lawsuit.
Asa demands that the song be deleted from all digital platforms within 24 hours and that he be compensated 300,000,000 naira in addition to receiving a 60% publishing cut of the song’s sales.
