We are super excited to launch a brand new platform called Let’s Rap Music Again in Africa powered by Naijahotstars.
This platform was initiated to awaken the rapping beast in our musicians. In our industry today, the rap genre is gradually fading as more musicians are finding it difficult to rise to stardom in some parts of the continent. This is why Naijahotstars is launching this brand new platform to create more awareness about the genre and spread its gospel in Africa and across the entire world.
As we progress into subsequent editions, we would segment the platform by diving deeper into different African countries, drawing more attention of rap music lovers to the Rap Artistes from a particular country, thereby raising more awareness.
Without wasting much time, on today’s edition we would be featuring a brand new song from a very talented rapper, his name is Ladipoe. We had one of our writer share more in depth about this rapper and what he feels could take his rap game, music career to the next level.
See post below:
Hello Fam, sure a pleasure to do this, I’m super glad to share my opinion using the platforms Let’s Rap Music Again in Africa.
I really want to promote this ladipoe – Rap Messiah , I really want to do that so badly, and the reason is because it isn’t really getting the attention it deserves.
A hard core rapper like ladipoe with another super banging rap song as Rap Messiah gaining just 20k streams on Audiomack days after release, men it really breaks my heart to see that numbers.
Rap songs in Nigeria and Africa really needs some amplification. These are one of those reasons that makes talented people to start thinking, and then they doubt their level of creativity in the niche that they find themselves in, and the next option they are considering is to jump ship into other genre of music because that’s where the demand is, not that they are doing this for the money but there’s limit you can hold hungry to especially when you are the one sponsoring yourself.
But in the case of POE I’m glad there are capable hands to give this song a push, so where I think the solutions lies is for the rap genre to be equally distributed and accepted same way hip-hop, trap and other popular genre of song is globally accepted.
When ladipoe featured Tiwa Savage in the song titled “Are You Down”, the song went viral, it blew up like a bomb, again the rapper featured Seyi Shay in another song titled “Red Light”, even though it was recently I got to listen to that song, I so was so much in love with the vibe, and the energy it was giving me, and last year 2020 during or aftermath of the CoronaVirus, he had another collaboration with Simi, titled “Know You”, this particular one spread like wild fire, if it was a disease, I would say it successfully contacted across Africa and other parts of the world. This brought back the name ladipoe to the minds of people that almost forgot about it, and new fanbase as well.
Let’s not forget the almighty “Providence”, the fiercest “Lemme Know”, the unspeakable LOTR, the scariest sound “Devil you know”, the melodious “Base on Kpa” and many more. If you haven’t yet listened to these songs, you have just been given a quick head start on the songs you should jump in to immediately you are done reading this article.
Here’s my advice and suggestion, Carefully looking at it, should we boldly say that ladipoe should look out for more promising female singer to dish out beautiful songs with, because it looks like a n assuring channel where he could reach out to people more, with his wonderful music.
I believe if really and truly we want to revive rap again, then let the rap giants wake up and get involved in this revolution. I want to respectfully call out rappers like Mode9, Phyno, Olamide, Vector, MI, Ruggedy Baba, and more to join hands, join their voices and also to join their support to this wake up call. please be a force in pushing other rappers, let there be more rap competition, more rap shows like the Hennessy Cypher, and more.
There are upcoming generations of rappers who are out there, both male and females. And without being bias, if we look to the side of the females, we might be losing promising talent because if they are not encouraged and inspired by the current situation of where rap is headed, they are likely going to jump ship into other professions. Let’s not forget they are a girl child, and if it doesn’t look like they are heading towards the spotlight with the career they have chosen to be (a rapper), of course the pressure would set in at some point UNLESS THEY ARE SEEKING TO BE THE CHANGE THEY WANT TO SEE.
If you have any other advice and suggestions regarding this topics kindly share it below. Thank you.
