Fast-emerging singer and songwriter, Secular drops new single titled “Champion” off her upcoming debut EP titled “Love Letters”. This track yet again showcases Secular’s ability to construct and create emotions across vast scales. In champion, there’s a real, undeniable hunger in her luminous and raw vocal, the push and pull of the instrumentation is subtler than expected, and the words reveal layers of vulnerability and yearnings to be loved be her man, her Champion.
The track is a perfect blend of R&B and Afro-Soul.
Secular’s music is an extension of her love for crafting soulful melodies by combining various elements from Afrobeats, R&B, pop and Soul Music.
Born and raised in Lagos, Nwachukwu Odinakachukwu also known as Secular had always been drawn to music from an early age of 7.
She is inspired by African female acts like Angelique Kidjoe, Brenda Fassie, Chaka Chaka and homegrown female acts such as Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage.
