Design

In terms of design, the Oppo A56s comes with a budget design as expected of an entry-level smartphone. The rear is made out of matte plastic with a smooth finish that doesn’t attract fingerprints smudges. It has curved edges for better handling while the top and bottom remain flat.

The Oppo A56s measures 163.8 x 75.1 x 8 mm in dimension and weighs 186 g which makes it comfortable to hold and use with one hand.

At the front, this Oppo device has 6.56-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels. It has a waterdrop notch at the top of the screen, which maximizes the screen-to-body ratio and gives the phone a modern look.

The back design like most entry-level phones is smooth with matte finish. It has a rectangular camera module at the left corner, accompanied by a LED flash. The Oppo A56s also features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, which provides quick and secure access to the device.

On the sides, there are functional button. The right has the power button which is integrated with the fingerprint sensor, while the left has a SIM/MicroSD port. Additionally, on the bottom, there is the micro-USB port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a single speaker.

Display

Similar to Oppo A17k, the Oppo A56s features a 6.56-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels, giving it a pixel density of approximately 269 PPI. The screen has an aspect ratio of 20:9, which provides a tall and narrow display that is well-suited for media consumption and multitasking.

In terms of brightness, the Oppo A56s has a typical brightness of 480 nits and a high brightness mode (HBM) of up to 600 nits. This means that the display is bright enough to be used in most lighting conditions, including direct sunlight.

Unfortunately, the Oppo A56s does not feature a high refresh rate. The screen refreshes at the standard 90Hz, which is typical for many mid-range smartphones. However, it is worth noting that this refresh rate can still provide a smoother and more fluid display, which is particularly beneficial for activities such as gaming and scrolling through social media feeds.

Camera

The Oppo A56s features a dual-camera setup at the back, consisting of a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The primary camera has an f/2.2 aperture and supports autofocus for capturing clear and sharp images, while the depth sensor is used to capture depth information and enable portrait mode effects.

The camera app on the Oppo A56s offers several features, including HDR mode, panorama mode, and various filters and effects. The camera also supports video recording at up to 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second.

At the front, the Oppo A56s features an 8-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The front camera also supports various features such as AI beautification and HDR mode to capture clear and detailed selfies.

Hardware and Software

Under the hood, there is the Mediatek Dimensity 810 chipset based on 6nm process technology just like in the Infinix Note 12 5G, the Note 12 Pro 5G, and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S 5G. This is an octa-core CPU with two high-performance ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at up to 2.4GHz and six power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2GHz. The chipset is built on a 6nm process and features an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU for graphics processing.

Likewise, this chipset is paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which is expandable via a microSD card. There is also a large 5,000mAh battery, which provides you with a good battery life to last a full day on a single charge.

In terms of software, the Oppo A56s runs on Android 12, which is the latest version of the Android operating system at the time of its release. The operating system is overlaid with Oppo’s custom skin, ColorOS 12.1, which provides additional features and customization options. ColorOS 12.1 features an improved UI, enhanced privacy and security features, and various performance optimizations to provide a smooth and efficient user experience.

furthermore, the Oppo A56s also comes with various connectivity options, including dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. The phone also features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and supports facial recognition for biometric authentication.
