There was no place for Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka in the Premier League team of the season, with Mohamed Salah taking the English winger’s place

Despite leading Arsenal’s title charge in the Premier League this season, England international Bukayo Saka was snubbed in the league’s Team of the Season, with Liverpool’s Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah taking his place in the team.

Saka fails to make seasonal team despite superb campaign

Bukayo Saka has been in superb form for Arsenal in the 2022/23 season, and even became the first player in the Premier League campaign to hit double figures for both goals and assists, but his exploits were still not enough to earn him a place in the league’s Team of the Season.

Saka has been directly involved in 24 Premier League goals for Arsenal in the 2022/23 campaign, with 13 goals and 11 assists to his name, and was arguably the Gunners’ best player in one of the best seasons in the club’s recent history, but still lost out to the Egyptian forward in the Team of the Season despite four other Arsenal players making the cut.

Salah’s superb season flying under the radar
Despite having a relatively underwhelming season, Liverpool’s Salah has still managed to reach 18 Premier League goals for the Reds, assisting a further seven goals in the campaign.

Liverpool’s league struggles have hidden Salah’s quietly impressive season, as the Reds struggle for a top four place that was almost guaranteed to them at the start of the season.

The Reds’ failures have been highlighted by the fact that Salah is the only Liverpool representative in the Team of the Season, which was dominated by Arsenal and Manchester City players.
