Manchester City midfielder has aimed a dig at Arsenal after helping his club defend the Premier League for the fourth successive time.
Rodri has aimed a thinly veiled dig at Arsenal’s mental fortitude after firing Manchester City to a fourth straight Premier League crown, questioning whether the Gunners had the stomach for the title fight.
The Spanish midfielder scored in City’s 3-1 final day win over West Ham to seal another championship, before taking aim at Mikel Arteta’s side with his post-match comments.
Rodri questions Arsenal’s mentality
Moments after leading City to another glory, the 27-year-old recalled the crucial meeting between the two sides back in late March, suggesting Arsenal didn’t show the mentality of champions at the Etihad.
“Great players are all over the leagues, all over the clubs – Arsenal, they deserve, they did an unbelievable season,” Rodri acknowledged in a video making the rounds on social media.

“But I think the difference was here (pointing to his head) again.”
“When they came here, they faced us here, I saw them that these guys, they don’t want to beat us,” he added.
“They just want to draw, you know? I think that mentality, we wouldn’t do the same way and we catch it.”
Arsenal ultimately fell short in their first serious title challenge in nearly two decades, finishing two points adrift to extend their barren run without a league crown to 20 years.
While Rodri was complimentary of the Gunners’ campaign, his brutal assessment will only add fuel to the fire ahead of next season’s likely renewal of hostilities between the two teams.
His savage questioning of Arsenal’s mindset in the biggest games suggests Pep Guardiola’s men are ready for another heavyweight battle to retain their Premier League stranglehold.
