Xiaomi Poco C55 is a budget entry-level smartphone launched by Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco in February 2023. It offers an impressive set of features at an affordable price, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious smartphone buyers. With the 6.71 inches IPS LCD display, dual camera, Octa-core Mediatek Helio G85, Android 12, MIUI 13 and large 5000 mAh battery, the Poco C55 offers more than its priced.

Design and Display

The Xiaomi Poco C55 comes with a unique design thanks to the all polycarbonate leather-like stitched pattern at the rear panel. It features a glass front with plastic frame and back, which gives it a premium look and feel. The 6.71 inches glass display occupies the front with a significant amount of chin at the bottom and slightly slimmer bezels at the sides and top. Inside the top bezel is the teardrop design hosting the front camera.

The back sits the wide noticeable camera module located at the top of the android phone, which houses the dual camera setup, a LED flash with the fingerprint sensor beside it and Poco logo at the right side corner.

The bottom edge of Xiaomi Poco C55 has a microphone, a microUSB port, and a speaker grille. The left side of the phone features a SIM slot and Micro SD card tray, while its right side is fitted with a volume rocker and a power key.

The Xiaomi Poco C55 6.71-inch IPS LCD display comes with a resolution of 720 x 1650 pixels and a pixel density of 268 pixels per inch (PPI). The display has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a waterdrop-style notch at the top, which houses the front-facing camera.

Furthermore, this display measures 82.6% screen-to-body ratio which means that the device has a more modern and immersive design with a larger display area relative to the overall device size.

Above all, the display Poco C55 has a panda glass protection, which provides some level of resistance against scratches and accidental drops. And it comes with an IP52 water and dust resistance which makes this smartphone one of the very few budget phones to have an IP rating.

Camera

Xiaomi Poco C55 comes with a dual camera setup on the back, which includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor, and 0.08-megapixel depth lens. The primary camera has a large f/1.8 aperture and is capable of capturing high-quality photos with good detail and color accuracy.

In addition, the main camera also features PDAF which uses specialized sensors on the camera’s image sensor to detect the phase differences in light waves and calculate the distance to the subject. This allows the camera to adjust the focus quickly and accurately, resulting in sharp and clear images. The depth camera lens however allows for closer shots.

The Poco C55 also has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera which can be considered to be a relatively low resolution by today’s standards. However, it is still capable of capturing decent-quality selfies with good color accuracy and detail in well-lit conditions.

Hardware and Software

The Xiaomi Poco C55 is powered by Mediatek MT6769Z Helio G85. This is a powerful processor that provides users with a great performance and an efficient battery life.  The processor is built on an 12-core architecture to offer high performance and optimized gaming experiences.

This Helio G85 features an octa-core CPU with two Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. It also comes with an ARM Mali-G52 MC2 GPU clocked at 1GHz, which provides good graphics performance for gaming and other graphics-intensive tasks.

In terms of connectivity, the Helio G85 supports dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and 4G LTE. Xiaomi Poco C55 also supports up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage that can be expandable using a micro SD card.

In addition, Xiaomi Poco C55 runs on MIUI 13, Xiaomi’s custom Android skin that is based on Android 12. This OS offers improved performance optimizations to enhance the user experience.
