Xiaomi Redmi 10C is the latest addition to the Redmi series of smartphones from Xiaomi. This budget-friendly device offers a great combination of features and performance at an affordable price. It is a bit more premium compared to the Redmi 10A. As an upgrade of the year 2020 Xiaomi Redmi 9C, it comes with upgraded features such as a 6.71-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 720 x 1650 pixels. The Redmi 10C is powered by a Qualcomm SM6225 Snapdragon 680 4G octa-core processor, paired with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage.

On the back, the Redmi 10C has a dual camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, there is an 5MP front-facing camera. The android phone also boasts a 5000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support and runs on MIUI 13 based on Android 11.

Design

The Xiaomi Redmi 10C has a modern and stylish design for a budget smartphone. It features a glossy finish and a slim profile that not only gives the device a premium look and feel, but also helps with grip and reduces the chances of it slipping out of your hand.

The back of the device houses a squareish camera module that holds the two camera lenses and an LED flash. The camera module is located at the top left corner of the back panel. There is also the Redmi branding located on the camera module.

At the front of the device sits a 6.71-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop-style notch at the top center. The notch houses the front-facing camera. The bezels on the sides of the display are slim, while the bottom bezel is slightly thicker. In addition, the power button and volume rocker are located on the right-hand side of the device, while the SIM card slot and microSD card slot are on the left-hand side. The bottom edge of the device houses the microUSB port, speaker grille, and 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Redmi 10C is available in three colors: Graphite Gray, Ocean Blue, Mint Green. The textured finish on the back panel of the device varies depending on the color variant.

Display

The Xiaomi Redmi 9C features a 6.71-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1650 pixels resulting to 268 ppi density. The display has an aspect ratio of 20:9, which makes it taller and narrower than traditional displays, making it easier to hold in one hand. The screen-to-body ratio of the device is 82.0%, which means that the display covers a significant portion of the front panel.

Redmi 10C display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which makes it resistant to scratches and minor impacts. The device also has TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification to reduce eye strain.

The color reproduction on the phone’s display is decent for a budget smartphone, with colors appearing fairly accurate and vibrant. However, the display’s maximum brightness of 400 nits is not the highest, which means that the display may not be as easy to read in direct sunlight.

Camera

Xiaomi has opt for quality instead of quantity for the Redmi 10C. Compared to the triple rear camera in the Redmi 9C, the Redmi 10C has a dual-camera setup on the back consisting of a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel macro lens. The main camera has an  f/1.8 aperture and 26mm wide angle lens so as to capture an almost 180-degree angle. These camera lens is perfect for panoramic landscapes. The macro lens is also useful for taking close-up shots and portrait shots, although the image quality may not be the best.

On the front, the device has a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. this front-facing camera is capable of capturing decent selfies in good lighting, but struggles in low light conditions. The camera also has a built-in AI beautification feature that can automatically enhance your selfies by smoothing out your skin and enhancing your facial features.

Hardware and Software

The Xiaomi Redmi 10C comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 4G CPU. This 6nm processor has eight cores divided into four cores with up to 2.4 GHz (Kryo 265 Gold – Cortex-A73 derivate) and another four cores for power saving efficiency cluster with up to 1.8 GHz (Kryo 265 Silver – Cortex A53 derivate). This is the same processor in models like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 and the Samsung Galaxy A23 and offers decent performance for basic smartphone usage such as browsing the web, running social media apps, and playing casual games.

In addition, this processor is backed by the Qualcomm® Adreno™ 610 GPU chipset along 4GB RAM and either 64/128-Gigs of built-in storage. There is also a model offering 3GB RAM with either 64GB or 128GB ROM.

Xiaomi Redmi 10C comes with the Android 11 operating system out of the box, with Xiaomi’s MIUI 13 user interface on top. MIUI 13 offers a range of additional features and customization options to the stock Android experience, such as app drawer customization, enhanced dark mode, and built-in screen recording.

Battery

The Redmi 10C is powered by a non-removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery. This large battery capacity is designed to provide long-lasting battery life and can easily last a full day of moderate to heavy use on a single charge.
