Inevitable Real Madrid dump out Manchester City to set up Bayern clash

Real Madrid knocked out Manchester City for the second time in three seasons to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Despite dominating possession, Manchester City have been knocked out of the Champions League by a resolute Real Madrid through a penalty shootout.

With both teams inseparable in the first leg in Madrid, it was all to play for at the Etihad. Real Madrid went ahead first, and after about an hour of toiling, Manchester City restored parity. The hosts strived for a winner, but Real Madrid’s backline remained unbreachable.

The game went to extra time, and subsequently, penalties, through which Real Madrid won 4-3.
